Ingredients (4 servings)

Shrimp

  • 1½ lbs large shrimp (16–20 count), peeled and deveined

  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt

  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika

  • ½ teaspoon chili powder

  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (helps sauce cling)

Tiger Spicy Sauce

  • 3 tablespoons butter

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 6–7 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated

  • 1–2 teaspoons crushed red pepper flakes

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce

  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce

  • 1–2 tablespoons honey (to balance heat)

  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar or lemon juice

Instructions

1. Season and lightly coat shrimp

Combine shrimp with salt, pepper, paprika, chili powder, and cornstarch. Toss well.


2. Sear the shrimp

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high with a drizzle of oil.

  2. Add shrimp in one layer; cook 1–2 minutes per side.

  3. Remove once just cooked; keep warm.


3. Build the tiger garlic sauce

  1. In the same skillet, lower heat to medium.

  2. Add butter and olive oil.

  3. Add garlic and ginger; sauté 45 seconds.

  4. Add red pepper flakes, soy sauce, oyster sauce, honey, chili-garlic sauce, and vinegar.

  5. Stir until bubbling and slightly thickened (2–3 minutes).

  6. Add optional gochujang for a spicier, stickier finish.


4. Combine

  1. Return shrimp to the skillet.
